The Sims 2: getting rid of the "insert disc then restart application" message to play the sims 2

This is very annoying. I surfed the net almost 3 hours just to find solution to bypass that "insert disc" message. As I browse, I understand that almots all users of the Sims 2 have this problem. Whew! Well here's the trick.

1. Install The Sims 2 or any other expansion packs of it. In my case, i installed The Sims 2 and Bon Voyage. Both needs a CD to start playing the game. But even if you insert the right disc, it still looks for the CD. Very annoying huh!

2. When installation is complete. Download the NO-CD PATCH of the version of The Sims 2 that you are installing. I downloaded 2 patches to get rid of that error message. Here's the link

http://www.gameburnworld.com/cgi-bin/search/search.pl?p=1&lang=en&include=&exclude=&penalty=0&q=the+sims+2+no-cd+patch

Browse through that and find the patches you need.
Note: You could also find some other patches other than no-cd patch! Yes! So enjoy browsing.

3. After downloading the no-cd patch that you need. Extract the file, if needed. Usually it's in .rar extension so WinRar is a handy tool to perform extraction. Download it at http://www.download.com/WinRAR/3000-2250_4-10007677.html.

4. Now that all files have been extracted, it's time to place the file in the correct folder. Go to: My Computer, double click C:, open Program Files, open EA Games Folder. Now open the folder of the game you want to patch. For example, The Sims 2, open The Sims 2 folder, open the TSBin folder, then paste the no-cd patch there. Note that another file with the same file name is in that folder. It is adviseable not to delete that original file for in case that the patch will have problem, you could always go back to where you started. So rename the original file in that folder, like Sims2Orig.exe. Just make sure you could recognize the file.
In all other expansion packs of the Sims 2, no-cd patch is placed in the TSBin folder. Just remember to preserve the original file for safety measures. :)

5. Close all windows. Open The Sims 2, etc., and charan!!! You could now play it without any CD to be inserted. :)

BTW, I read about the no-cd patch of The Sims 2 when I was browsing the net. I could be done troubleshooting that error message for an hour if I haven't read the post a very genius person that said that there is no such no-cd patch for The Sims 2. Well, I could prove to him/her now that there is really a no-cd patch for this game! >:p
